How to Plan a Wedding in Las Vegas: The Ultimate Step-by-Step Guide for Couples

March 23, 2026

So you’ve decided to get married in Las Vegas- and honestly, it’s one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. But between the venues, vendors, timelines, and the million details in between, figuring out where to even begin can feel overwhelming. That’s exactly why we created this guide.

As a Las Vegas wedding planner with over a decade of experience, our team at The Vegas Planners has walked hundreds of couples through this exact process. Whether you’re flying in from out of state or you’re a local planning your dream celebration, here’s everything you need to know to plan a Las Vegas wedding that actually feels like you.

Step 1: Get Clear on Your Vision Before You Do Anything Else

The biggest mistake couples make when starting to plan a Las Vegas wedding is jumping straight into vendor research before they’ve had a real conversation about what they actually want. Before you open a single browser tab, sit down together and answer these questions:

What’s the overall vibe — intimate and romantic, glamorous and over-the-top, desert bohemian, or something totally unique?

How many guests are you inviting? A micro-wedding of 20 feels very different than a reception of 150.

What’s your non-negotiable? Is it the venue? The photographer? The flowers? Knowing your priority helps you allocate budget correctly.

Are you open to a weekday wedding? Las Vegas venues are often more available and more affordable mid-week.

Getting clear on these answers upfront saves you enormous time and prevents the frustrating back-and-forth that slows so many couples down.

Step 2: Set a Realistic Budget — and Pad It

Las Vegas weddings can range anywhere from $10,000 for a small, elegant elopement to $100,000+ for a full production at a luxury resort. The key is to know your number before you start looking at venues — because venues will set the tone for everything else.

A good rule of thumb: allocate roughly 40–50% of your budget to the venue and catering, 10–15% to photography, 10% to florals and decor, and 8–10% to entertainment. Then add a 10% buffer for surprises (because there are always surprises).

As a Las Vegas event planner, one of the most valuable things we do for our clients early on is help them build a realistic budget based on current vendor pricing in the Las Vegas market. Prices shift constantly — especially post-pandemic — so working with someone who knows the local landscape is incredibly helpful.

Step 3: Choose Your Venue First

Your venue is the foundation of your entire wedding. Everything else — catering, florals, timelines, transportation — flows from this decision. Las Vegas offers an incredible range of options:

✦Resort hotels like Encore, The Wynn, and The Venetian for grand ballroom experiences

✦Desert venues like Red Rock Canyon or Valley of Fire for scenic, outdoor ceremonies

✦Lake Las Vegas for a waterfront, Mediterranean feel without leaving Nevada

✦Private estates and boutique venues for something more intimate and personalized

Keep in mind that popular Las Vegas venues book up fast — especially for spring and fall dates. If you have a specific venue in mind, reach out early, often 12–18 months in advance for peak dates.

Step 4: Build Your Vendor Team

Once your venue is locked in, it’s time to build your vendor team. In Las Vegas, having a trusted wedding planner who already has established relationships with local vendors is a game-changer. At The Vegas Planners, our vendor network has been built over a decade, which means our clients get access to trusted professionals who know how to deliver.

The vendors you’ll want to secure early are: photographer and videographer, hair and makeup artists, DJ or live band, florist, officiant, and transportation. These tend to book fastest on popular dates.

Step 5: Create a Detailed Timeline

One of the things that separates a seamless Las Vegas wedding from a stressful one is the timeline. A great wedding day timeline accounts for everything: hair and makeup schedules, first look timing, travel between locations, cocktail hour flow, dinner service, toasts, cake cutting, and send-off.

As your Las Vegas wedding planner, we build minute-by-minute timelines for every event we manage and we send them to all vendors in advance so everyone is on the same page before the day even begins.

Step 6: Don’t Skip the Rehearsal

Even for smaller weddings, a rehearsal makes an enormous difference. It’s the moment where the ceremony flow gets locked in, everyone knows where to stand, and the nerves settle. We always recommend scheduling a rehearsal at the venue with your officiant and wedding party present.

Step 7: Hand It Off and Enjoy the Day

Here’s the truth: the couples who enjoy their wedding day the most are the ones who have trusted professionals managing the logistics. When you hire a Las Vegas wedding planner, you’re not just paying for someone to make calls and send emails… you’re investing in the ability to actually be present on one of the most meaningful days of your life.

At The Vegas Planners, our goal is always the same: handle every detail so you can exhale, trust the process, and enjoy every single moment alongside the people you love most.
